Accessibility Statement
Last updated
Hearth & Herb wants every reader to be able to find, read and cook from our recipes, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and easier to use for everyone.
What we do
- Readable text: text colours meet WCAG AA contrast on our backgrounds, body text is large, and pages reflow on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
- Keyboard access: every link, button, menu and form works with a keyboard, and focused elements have a visible outline. A “Skip to content” link appears first on every page.
- Screen readers: pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels. Ingredient checklists are real checkboxes, star ratings have text labels, and every meaningful image has descriptive alt text.
- Motion: animations are minimal and switched off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Printing: every recipe has a clean, ink-saving print version.
- Speed: pages are lightweight and work without JavaScript, which helps older devices and slow connections.
Known limitations
Some content comes from third parties, such as advertisements, embedded videos and Pinterest buttons. We choose partners with accessibility in mind, but we cannot fully control their content. If something gets in your way, please tell us and we will do what we can.
Feedback
We welcome your feedback. If you have trouble using any part of the Website, email hello@hearthandherb.example or use our contact page, tell us the page and the problem, and we will try to respond within five business days.
